My name is Fernando Cañero Fernández. Almost everyone calls me Nando. I'm a professional dog trainer and I work with dogs in Catalonia: at the client's home and at my own training field.
My trade has three sides and all three feed into each other. Behaviour teaches me to read the dog. Film shoots force that reading to work with twenty people watching. IGP keeps me honest: there are no shortcuts there, only training.
I work with working dogs, not with tricks. Control, judgement and a bond that holds up outside the home.
Three lines of work
01 · Individuals
Dog training and behaviour modification. I come to your home or we work at my own training field. First I read the dog and understand what's going on at home; then we build the bond and the obedience you need for everyday life.
02 · Film shoots
Dogs trained for film, series, advertising and music videos. I work with the crew, set the shot and, if needed, step into frame in costume to guide the dog without breaking the take.
03 · Sport
I compete in IGP working dog sport with Xena de Querien-Can: third place and best bitch born in Spain at the SECPA 2025 IGP National Championship. I also train protection and work as a helper on the sleeve.
Training and teaching
I was a speaker at the «Informative Session on Training in Working Dog Unit Instruction», on the professional experiences panel.
It was organised by the Escola FUAB Formació (Prevenció i Seguretat Integral) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where I was introduced as an expert in behaviour modification and developing the bond between dog and handler.
